Occidental Arts & Ecology Center: Permaculture Design and Resilient Living
Occidental Arts and Ecology Center (OAEC), a nonprofit environmental education center, has developed an approach to resilient community design that is based on 23 years of history teaching permaculture design, living in intentional community and participating in community-based organizing. The framework and associated hands-on techniques are informed by user-driven participatory methods to design community that is ecologically regenerative, economically viable and socially just. OAEC has facilitated many groups to support their design of such resilient communities.
“We ultimately work on supporting communities towards resiliency through food security and water security and community governance models and decision-making processes.” — Brock Dolman, co-founder of OAEC
